BOYS SOCCER: Medina-Rodriguez’s late PK lifts Columbia past Keystone Heights

Chris Truman couldn’t convert his penalty kick for Keystone Heights. But Marcos Medina-Rodriguez? He doesn’t miss for Columbia. Medina-Rodriguez struck a PK into the right side of the net in the 77th minute to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over the Indians at Tiger Stadium Monday night.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Fort White routs Cedar Key

Jacovya Major scored 20 points with seven rebounds and two assists to lead the Fort White past Cedar Key 60-26 at home on Monday. Dacaria Armstrong also had 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Lady Indians (4-4) against the Lady Sharks (0-13).

WRESTLING: Columbia places third at Battle of the Border

Columbia took third place out of 17 teams at the Battle of the Border IBT hosted by Yulee on Saturday. Brett Millard (106 class), Thomas Greene (152) and Joseph Rice (170) each won titles, while Shawn Raggins (195) finished runner-up.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Florida tabs veteran SEC coach McGriff to coach secondary

GAINESVILLE — Florida announced the hiring of Wesley McGriff as its secondary coach Saturday, replacing two assistants coach Dan Mullen fired after the team's worst defensive season in more than a hundred years. Mullen parted ways with secondary coaches Ron English and Torrian Gray last week.
