BOYS BASKETBALL: Columbia routs Gainesville for fifth straight win

GAINESVILLE — Suffocating pressure and dizzying speed helped Columbia build a quick lead Tuesday night in boys basketball, as the Tigers ran shorthanded Gainesville ragged for a 61-42 win at the Purple Palace.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Vanguard snaps Columbia's 4-game winning streak

Down by three, Na’Haviya Paxton drove the lane hoping to score and draw a foul. She came up with neither. Instead, Vanguard held on to defeat Columbia 57-54 and escape with a road victory as Paxton’s shot bounced off the rim with no whistle.

BOYS SOCCER: Medina-Rodriguez’s late PK lifts Columbia past Keystone Heights

Chris Truman couldn’t convert his penalty kick for Keystone Heights. But Marcos Medina-Rodriguez? He doesn’t miss for Columbia. Medina-Rodriguez struck a PK into the right side of the net in the 77th minute to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over the Indians at Tiger Stadium Monday night.

Jacovya Major scored 20 points with seven rebounds and two assists to lead the Fort White past Cedar Key 60-26 at home on Monday. Dacaria Armstrong also had 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Lady Indians (4-4) against the Lady Sharks (0-13).
