Marco Rubio wins 3rd Senate term, defeats Demings

TALLAHASSEE — Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio has won a third term, defeating U.S. Rep. Val Demings and holding a key seat as the GOP tried to regain control of a closely divided Senate.

U.S. Rep. Cammack wins second term

A familiar face will be representing Florida’s Third District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Kat Cammack, a Gainesville Republican, was re-elected for a second term in the House on Tuesday, easily outdistancing Democrat challenger Danielle Hawk.

Simon sacks Ausley for state senate seat

A former Florida State football star tossed an incumbent state senator for a loss Tuesday in the Florida Senate District 3 race. Corey Simon, a Tallahassee Republican, defeated Tallahassee Democrat Loranne Ausley with 53% of the vote, according to unofficial numbers.

Artists on display during LO Artists Guild Artfest

Oath Keepers boss says he’s a patriot

WASHINGTON — Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes took the witness stand Friday in his seditious conspiracy trial, telling jurors he is a patriotic American as he tries to counter allegations that his far-right extremist group planned an armed rebellion to stop the transfer of presidential power.
