GIRLS BASKETBALL: Columbia beats Miami Killian to win Hitchcock's Challenge

ALACHUA — The first ever Hitchcock’s Challenge girls bracket belongs to Columbia. The Lady Tigers won the inaugural tournament, defeating Miami Killian 50-42 on Monday at Legacy Park to finish a perfect 3-0.

FALL ALL-AREA: Conklin named LCR's Swimmer of the Year

For the second year in a row, a Conklin has been named the Lake City Reporter’s Swimmer of the Year.  Columbia junior Mackenzie Conklin earns the honor in 2019 after her brother, Evan Conklin, received the nod following his 2018 campaign at CHS.

PREP ROUNDUP: Tigers trounce Trojans in tourney

After suffering its first loss of the season at the buzzer Thursday, the Columbia boys basketball team bounced back in a big way on Friday.  The Tigers defeated Southern 61-37 in their second game at the Henry Clay Holiday Tournament in Kentucky.

BOYS SOCCER: Columbia battles back from 2-goal deficit to tie Santa Fe

For the third game in a row, the Columbia boys soccer team played to a draw Thursday night.  But the latest result felt more like a win for the Tigers, who rallied with a pair of second-half goals and tied Santa Fe, 2-2.

PREP ROUNDUP: CHS boys & girls hoops drop holiday tourney openers

Columbia’s boys basketball team lost to Lafayette 37-35 at the buzzer in its opener of the Henry Clay Holiday Tournament in Kentucky on Thursday. Marcus Owens led the Tigers (5-1) with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Columbia faces Louisville Southern today.
