PREP ROUNDUP: Tigers trounce Trojans in tourney

After suffering its first loss of the season at the buzzer Thursday, the Columbia boys basketball team bounced back in a big way on Friday.  The Tigers defeated Southern 61-37 in their second game at the Henry Clay Holiday Tournament in Kentucky.

BOYS SOCCER: Columbia battles back from 2-goal deficit to tie Santa Fe

For the third game in a row, the Columbia boys soccer team played to a draw Thursday night.  But the latest result felt more like a win for the Tigers, who rallied with a pair of second-half goals and tied Santa Fe, 2-2.

PREP ROUNDUP: CHS boys & girls hoops drop holiday tourney openers

Columbia’s boys basketball team lost to Lafayette 37-35 at the buzzer in its opener of the Henry Clay Holiday Tournament in Kentucky on Thursday. Marcus Owens led the Tigers (5-1) with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Columbia faces Louisville Southern today.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Florida signs another top-10 class

Florida had an uneventful early signing day, but inked a top-10 recruiting class for the second year in a row.  The Gators signed 21 of their 24 commits, as well as Texas wide receiver transfer Jordan Pouncey.

COMMENTARY: CHS seniors left their mark, regardless of what anyone says

Jordan Smith could barely stand, held up by his mother as they walked to Columbia’s postgame huddle. Tears rolled, but he wasn’t the only one. His teammate shared his sorrow all the same. It was another playoff loss to Robert E. Lee, but for 20 seniors, it was the end of their high school careers.

Spurrier seeks out Florida's Trask after first career start

GAINESVILLE — In his first career start, quarterback Kyle Trask threw for nearly 300 yards and led No. 9 Florida to a 34-3 win Saturday over rival Tennessee.

A new No. 11 at QB for Gators

GAINESVILLE — History will be made at the Florida-Tennessee game on Saturday. Gators quarterback Kyle Trask is making his career start, a moment that also holds significance because of his jersey number. The redshirt junior wears No. 11, and he knows the background behind it.
