BOYS BASKETBALL: Faulkner looking for more maturity from Columbia despite win over Saint Francis Catholic

Steve Faulkner has been waiting for his team to show some maturity. He’s still waiting, even after a 20-point victory. Columbia battled out of an early 12-point hole and turned it on in the second half, pulling away for a 69-49 win over Saint Francis Catholic at home Tuesday night.

Darrien Jones had 17 points and five assists to lead Columbia’s boys basketball team to a 65-58 win over Suwannee on the road Saturday night. Jordan Smith also had 11 points and Kenney Gaines finished with nine points while Marcus Owens poured in eight for the Tigers (14-2).

GIRLS SOCCER: Forest scores late goal to hand Columbia first loss of season

It was the first real test of the season and Columbia didn’t pass. Instead, the Lady Tigers suffered their first loss. Josie Leonard’s goal in the 71st minute lifted Forest to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Columbia in District 2-6A action at Tiger Stadium.
