WRESTLING: Columbia 3-peats as Tiger Duals champs

Columbia coach Pete Whittington always expects to win. Especially his own tournament. The Tigers 3-peated as champions of the Tiger Duals on Saturday, winning the round-robin event with a perfect 8-0 record.

Consistent, consistent, consistent. That’s how coach Brian Allen describes Marquez Bell’s career at Columbia. “He’s a quiet assassin. He just goes out and gets it done,” Allen said. Year after year, Bell sliced through defenses. His senior season was no different. In fact, it was historic.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Columbia falls to Carver in B-Town Classic

Columbia lost its second game of the B-Town Classic on Friday, falling to Alabama Carver 47-41 in South Carolina. The Lady Tigers (12-3) couldn’t overcome a slow start that saw them score only two points in the first quarter while the Lady Rams (18-4) scored 10.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Pierce set to take over for Perine at running back for the Gators

MIAMI GARDENS — Lamical Perine wasn’t the only Florida running back whose production dipped in 2019.  After rushing for 424 yards as a freshman, Dameon Pierce finished his sophomore campaign with 305 yards and 15 fewer touches (54).

WRESTLING: Columbia looks to 3-peat at Tiger Duals

Columbia is still looking to win its first tournament of the season. It could finally come at home this weekend. The Tigers Duals kicks off today at noon and Columbia is looking for a 3-peat. The Tigers have won their home tournament the past two seasons, beating Buchholz for the title last year.
