Audrey Fender’s love for running can be traced back to a rewards system in fourth grade.
When she was at Summers Elementary School, students received tokens for running miles at recess. That wasn’t an easy chore for everyone, but it was for Fender.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Columbia beats Miami Killian to win Hitchcock's Challenge

ALACHUA — The first ever Hitchcock’s Challenge girls bracket belongs to Columbia.
The Lady Tigers won the inaugural tournament, defeating Miami Killian 50-42 on Monday at Legacy Park to finish a perfect 3-0.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Columbia advances to championship in Hitchcock's Challenge

Columbia defeated Eastside 64-43 in the Hitchcock's Challenge semifinals on Saturday at Legacy Park.
Darrien Jones led the Tigers (10-1) with 15 points while Kenney Gaines scored 11. Jordan Smith and Marcus Peterson each had eight points against the Rams (5-4).

Columbia topped Lakeland 68-59 in the second round of the Hitchcock's Challenge on Saturday.
Charleston Ponds led the Tigers (9-1) with 17 points while Marcus Peterson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Columbia junior Mackenzie Conklin earns the honor in 2019 after her brother, Evan Conklin, received the nod following his 2018 campaign at CHS.

ALACHUA — Fresh off a pair of wins at the Henry Clay Holiday Tournament in Kentucky, Columbia boys kept it rolling Friday at the Hitchcock’s Challenge.
The Tigers scored 70-plus points for the second straight game, cruising past Chiefland to the tune of 77-22.
