PREP FOOTBALL: Columbia rises to third in region RPI rankings, Fort White still in playoff spot

Columbia’s big District 3-6A win over Riverside shook up the latest FHSAA RPI rankings released on Wednesday. The Tigers (5-2, 3-0) moved up from fifth to third in Region 1-6A with a .654 RPI thanks to their 28-26 victory over the Generals (6-1, 2-1), who dropped to fifth at .643.

PREP ROUNDUP: Columbia swept by Baker County in finale

Columbia dropped its regular-season finale on Tuesday, falling to Baker County 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-20) at the Richardson Sixth Grade Academy. Brandi Oliver led the Tigers (13-10) with 13 kills and four blocks, while Cassidy O’Neal had five kills and Zimora Owens had three kills.

PREP VOLLEYBALL: FHSAA releases district tournament brackets

The pairings for next week’s district tournaments were released by the FHSAA on Tuesday. Columbia (12-9) is the No. 7 seed in District 2-6A and will face No. 2 seed Chiles (20-4) in the quarterfinals on Oct. 19 at Buchholz after finishing with a 1.825 rating. Chiles finished with a rating of 26.
