BRANFORD — Kennedy Walker is nothing if not mindful. Branford’s outside hitter proved that throughout her career. Even in the midst of transferring schools and leading her team to regional and district championships, Walker kept her eye on the ultimate prize.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Hot start has Fort White eying first playoff berth since 2018

FORT WHITE — There’s a slogan at Fort White — ‘everybody eats.’ The Indians have lived by that mantra this season, especially the team’s core five. Fort White is off to a 9-2 start this season, the program’s best since a 14-2 start in the 2018-19 campaign.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Columbia edges Chiles behind Cox, Gardner

Mariah Cox scored 15 points and Jolena Gardner (left) posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds to go with three blocks to lead Columbia to a 47-38 win over Chiles on the road Wednesday evening.

FALL ALL-AREA: Suwannee's Morgan Mobley named LCR's Boys Runner of the Year

LIVE OAK — Everything Morgan Mobley had been working for the entire season, or really the past two years, appeared ready to fall to the wayside. On Nov. 2, the night before the District 1-2A meet, Mobley was sick, running a fever and generally not feeling well.

BRANFORD — While teaching summer school this past summer, Branford coach Stefani Santos received a bonus. Rising freshman Anna Moore was one of her students and fresh off an all-area track season in the spring, Moore decided she wanted to try her hand — or legs — at cross country, too.
