BASEBALL
— Lafayette 17, Dixie County 6: Trevor Byrd went 2 for 4 with a home run and six RBIs while Noah Lamb finished 1 for 3 with a homer and four RBIs to lead the Class 1A No. 3 Hornets (11-1) past the Bears (5-6) on the road for their fifth straight win. Brayden Richardson added two RBIs on a 3-for-4 night and JT Cook also drove in two runs for LHS, which also saw Garrett Taylor go 3 for 4 with an RBI and Hyatt Richardson drive in a run as well. Brayden Richardson also pitched three innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits and a walk with a pair of strikeouts, while Trevor Mares surrendered an unearned run in his inning of work before Lamb stepped in and allowed three earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three in his three innings on the mound.
— Baker County 11, Branford 0: The Buccaneers (5-7) were no-hit by Tucker Kennedy in a run-rule loss to the Wildcats (9-5). Austin Humphries allowed five earned runs on one hit and four walks in a 1/3 of an inning, while Dawson Cannon surrendered six runs — five earned — on five hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings.
SOFTBALL
— Branford 3, Madison County 0: Laila Arnold struck out 10 and tossed a 3-hitter while shaking off five walks to lead the Class 1A No. 5 Buccaneers (14-3) past the Cowgirls (6-7) at home for their eighth straight win. Ellie Frierson hit a solo home run and finished 3 for 3 while Mallory Blue also knocked an RBI for BHS.
