JASPER — A Georgia woman faces multiple charges after shooting her husband Saturday in western Hamilton County. According to a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office report, 42-year-old Sharon Frederick, of Enigma, Ga.

LIVE OAK — Suwannee County property owners will pay more for garbage and fire protection next year. Despite one resident requesting the Suwannee County Commission not increase the fire assessment at Tuesday’s meeting, the board unanimously approved the $10 increase to $130 for residential.

TALLAHASSEE — Florida retailers hope for a boost to summer sales with the start Monday of a back-to-school sales tax “holiday.” The tax holiday, which will last through Aug. 6, will allow shoppers to avoid paying sales taxes on clothes, shoes, school supplies and personal computers.
