Two killed in Live Oak crash

LIVE OAK — Two Live Oak men were killed Monday morning when the car they were riding in was hit by a pickup.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a silver sedan was headed west out of Live Oak on U.S. Highway 90 around 5:30 a.m. Monday when it tried to turn left into the Jiffy Food Store at the intersection with 76th Street.

When the car turned, the passenger side was hit by the front end of an eastbound pickup on U.S. 90.

One of the passengers in the car — who was riding in the back — died in the crash. Another passenger, sitting in the passenger seat up front, died at HCA Suwannee ER.

Both passengers were from Live Oak, one was 20 years old and the other was 50. Neither were wearing their seatbelts, according to FHP.

The driver of the car, a 25-year-old Live Oak man was also transported to Suwannee ER with minor injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Both occupants of the pickup suffered minor injuries, according to the release. They were also wearing seatbelts.
