Tooling around lands Georgia man in jail

Finding the right tools for a job can be tricky. One Georgia man may have gone a bit too far in trying to find those tools. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office arrested Matthew Austin Prillaman, 24, of Manchester, Ga.

Arrested Holiday man allegedly threatened FHP officers

Nearly hitting a Florida Highway Patrol trooper while driving north on Interstate 75, a Holiday man later threatened the trooper as well. According to an FHP report, calls were received Monday around 4:10 p.m. about a white Dodge pickup speeding and driving recklessly on I-75 north.

The Fort White FFA is offering the chance to tour Florida in about half an hour. Sort of. The Fort White FFA and Pinemount Plantation have teamed up to present a fall fun maze at the plantation, 4312 SW Pinemount Road. The maze is open Saturdays (10:30 a.m. to around 6 p.m.

Hair’s impact on youth, love of Christ recalled

The Columbia County community is mourning the loss of a man who invested in their youth. James “Skipper” Hair died Sunday night at North Florida Regional Medical Center from covid-19 related complications. He was 50 years old. His funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Another month, another seller’s market in north Florida real estate. According to data compiled by the Florida Realtors and released this week by the Lake City Board of Realtors, the market continued to soar in August.

Humane Society to unwrap clinic

The Lake City-Columbia County Humane Society will have a nice present waiting for them this Christmas. The Humane Society’s animal treatment facility, the James Montgomery Animal Wellness Center, plans to open in December.
