Area schools begin summer meal programs

A line of vehicles crept along at both at Five Points Elementary School and Fort White Elementary School Thursday afternoon as hundreds of parents waited in line to get food as the school district kicked-off its first day of its annual Summer Food Service Program.

Youngs Park basketball courts dedicated

More than 100 people gathered at the basketball courts at Youngs Park Thursday evening as City of Lake City officials and representatives and employees from the local Target warehouse held a dedication ceremony at the courts.
Nine Waste Pro employees were surprised recently with a $10,000 bonus for 20 years of service to the company, which was founded 20 years ago in Central Florida. Roughly three months into construction on the Florida Gateway College’s new STEM building and an additional $6.1 million from the legislature will change some of the project’s scope. Construction on the project began March 6 and Gray Construction Services, Inc.

Renovated Woman’s Club ready for display

For close to 100 years, the Columbia County Woman’s Club has served the community through its motto: “Meet in Love, Dwell in friendship and Depart in Peace.” Through the years the organization held its meetings in a building that was christened as the Community and Columbia County Woman’s Club.
