Columbia County group helped address food insecurity

A contingent of Columbia County residents recently spent several hours volunteering their time to address food insecurity in Northeast Florida.

Resource officers host summer fun event

There was a heavy law enforcement presence at Five Points Elementary School Friday evening as a huge crowd of children and their parents flocked to the school’s multi-purpose activity area.

Students learn about Juneteenth ahead of first federal holiday

A brief field trip for several local rising middle and high school students, as well as adult education students, turned out to be an educational outing where they learned about Juneteenth.

Special meeting focused on Helf

The Lake City Council has called a special meeting Monday and the focus is solely on City Manager Joe Helfenberger. An hour before the its regular meeting is scheduled to start, the council will meet at 5 p.m. Monday in council chambers at City Hall, 205 N. Marion Ave.

LCHS civil theft trial set for November

The civil theft trial involving the Lake City-Columbia County Humane Society and two of its former employees has been scheduled for November. The trial date of Nov. 22-23 were set by Judge Bill Blue in Columbia County Court last week.
