Taking a ‘victory lap’: CHS celebrates 439 graduates

A day they’ve looked forward to from the beginning of their educational career unfolded for more than 400 Columbia High School seniors Friday night when they walked across the stage and received their high school diplomas.

Pitching in and cleaning up city, county

From volunteers cleaning up Oaklawn Cemetery and the shores of local lakes to city workers picking up trash along local streets, the cleanup bug was evident in Lake City on Saturday.

FGC holding one-stop enrollment event

Florida Gateway College is offering prospective students a one-stop option for enrolling in classes. The college’s One-Stop Enrollment Day will be held Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Wilson S. Rivers Library and Welcome Center.

Youngs Park basketball courts unveiled

Basketball is returning to Youngs Park. After months of construction work, City of Lake City officials held a grand opening for two new full-court basketball courts at Youngs Park on Thursday afternoon.

Berman seeking help with road woes

LIVE OAK — After fixing up two eyesores on the north end of Live Oak, Dana Berman is looking for help to address another. Berman, whose Live Oak Investments purchased and redeveloped the former Pic ’n’ Save building along U.S. Hwy. 129 as well as the former Bulk Beaver location off of Palm St.

CCS seeking virtual commitment

The 2020-21 academic year is just now concluding, but the Columbia County Schools are already planning for next school year. As part of that planning process, the district is looking for some guidance from parents about their virtual program.

Breaking through: Family hoping escape room can provide ‘good, clean fun.’

“Break the code” is more than just a business name for one Columbia County family. Rather, Bruce and BJ Register and William and Nicole Sheldon are hoping the escape rooms they’re opening will do just that for family entertainment in North Florida.
