April home sales promising in Columbia, Suwannee

Ask and you shall receive. Homesellers in both Columbia and Suwannee counties got just what they wanted — 100% of the original list price — for their homes in April, according to information released this week by the Lake City Board of Realtors.

Stephens earns AS degree from NFC

MADISON — North Florida College proudly recognizes its Class of 2021 spring graduates and applauds their accomplishments.  Brooke Kaitlyn Stephens, of Lake City, was awarded an Associate in Science in Registered Nursing at the conclusion of NFC’s spring term.

Shooting suspect still on loose

No arrests have been made and a shooting suspect remains on the loose following a Friday evening shooting near Youngs Park where a man was shot in the face.

Council moving meetings, physically and online

The Lake City Council meetings will be on the move — both physically and virtually. After seven months of holding the meetings in the school board auditorium, city officials are planning to move city council meetings back to city hall in the coming weeks.

Hoofing it to the Prospect Show: Annual cattle show brings over 200 bovine to LC.

Friday afternoon the Florida Gateway Fairgrounds was mooooo-ving with activity. From pickup trucks towing trailers filled with cows, to youngsters washing and grooming cows — the area had become a mecca for bovine.

Shooting at Youngs Park

A shooting occurred Friday evening after 7 p.m. at the tennis courts at Youngs Park where one person was shot, according to the Lake City Police Department. The victim was driven to the Lake City Public Safety Building after the shooting.

Wilson named to Florida Press board

Todd Wilson, publisher of the Lake City Reporter and a regional publisher with Community Newspapers, Inc. (CNI) last week was named to the board of directors of the Florida Press Association.

Class of 21 nets $2.5M worth of scholarships

Columbia High School honored its Class of 2021 on Thursday night. And there was plenty to celebrate as the senior class netted some $2.5 million worth of scholarships. “It was unbelievable the amount of money that was given out,” CHS Principal Trey Hosford said.
