LSHA taxes caught in momentary ‘snafu’

The Lake Shore Regional Medical Center hospital building was almost listed on the delinquent taxes list after a snafu by former lessee Community Health Systems (CHS) resulted in a portion of the facility’s 2020 ad valorem taxes remaining unpaid.

Young archers impress during national competition

Sarah Ripple wasn’t sure of herself. As the Eastside Elementary School archery coach handed out a manilla envelope’s worth of medals to her young shooters, she turned toward the table behind her. She reached for a tall trophy and read the base over and over again.

Hundreds flock to Growers and Makers Market

From necklaces, socks and vegan soap to homemade hair bows and other trinkets, the place to find unique Mothers Days gifts and other items was Olustee Park.

Young archers flex their marksmanship

With three blows of her whistle, Ashley Williams initiated a response from a few dozen elementary school students.  “Go get arrows,” came the muddled, monotone response from the children as they marched forward.

Grace’s Race running May 15

On your mark, get set, go raise scholarship funds. The inaugural Grace’s Race has been set for May 15 in memory of 18-year-old Lora Grace Duncan. Duncan, a 2020 Columbia High graduate and Florida Gateway College student, was killed in October.

County clean up day set for June

What initially began as effort to clean up streets and areas of Lake City has grown into a countywide community project. County officials Thursday night didn’t stop at agreeing to waive tippage fees at the county landfill for a one-off  event.
