Three area football games have been postponed due to the impending threat of Tropical Storm Helene after Columbia, Suwannee and Lafayette county schools all canceled classes and extra curricular activities on Thursday and Friday.

VOLLEYBALL — Branford 3, Columbia 2: The Class Rural No. 2 Buccaneers (16-3) rallied to top the Tigers (10-7) for a 25-20, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-13 road win. Sinei Wood led CHS with 19 kills, 32 digs and two aces, while Mylie Fernandez tallied 55 assists with five kills, three blocks and an ace.

JACKSONVILLE — What seemed improbable was suddenly possible. Following two touchdowns and two onside kick recoveries in just over two minutes, Columbia stared at a 2nd-and-goal from the Trinity Christian Academy 15-yard line with 12.5 seconds with a chance to tie, or possibly win, the game.

BAXLEY, Ga. — The opportunity to win the program’s first game in Georgia was within Suwannee’s fingertips Friday night. The Bulldogs had taken advantage of a short field to pull within one score at Jimmy Swain Stadium with 2:24 left in the third.
