TALLAHASSEE — Suwannee had every opportunity to open District 2-3A play victoriously. Instead, head coach Kyler Hall could only repeat the same phrase over and over following the Bulldogs’ 29-26 loss to Godby at Chiles High on Friday night.

PREP FOOTBALL: Lafayette can’t establish run in loss to Chiefland

CHIEFLAND — A close first half didn’t translate to a competitive second half for the Hornets. After hanging around with Chiefland (4-0) through the first 24 minutes, Lafayette (2-2) couldn’t close the gap, getting outscored 22-14 in the second half on the way to a 38-20 loss.

PREP FOOTBALL: Branford faces familiar foe with Yancey now at Hilliard

BRANFORD — Branford’s matchup Friday at Hilliard will be a reunion of sorts for coach Tim Clark and his Bucs. Hilliard’s first-year head coach, Matt Yancey, was on Clark’s staff for three years, serving as Branford’s defensive coordinator and inaugurated the Bucs’ weightlifting program.
