PREP FOOTBALL: Columbia O-line still trying to improve rushing attack

For the third straight day, Columbia failed to get in a full practice thanks to the weather. It’s hurt the progress of certain position groups as a result, notably the offensive line. That unit took a step backwards on Wednesday after showing some improvement over the past week.

PREP VOLLEYBALL: Leak in Columbia gym floor moves games to Richardson indefinitely

A leak in Columbia’s gym floor has moved all volleyball practices and matches to the Richardson Sixth Grade Academy indefinitely. CHS Principal Trey Hosford says water damage forced the school to tear up the court and demolition began Tuesday morning.

Suwannee coach Kyler Hall called Florida State legendary coach Bobby Bowden an “unbelievable leader.” Former Columbia coach Brian Allen says Bowden’s legacy will “live forever.” Both played for the Seminoles under Bowden, and both mourned his passing on Sunday.

COLLEGE FISHING: FGC Bass Fishing qualifies for national championship

The Florida Gateway College bass fishing team has qualified for the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship in New York this week. The national championship will be this Thursday through Saturday on the St. Lawrence River in Waddington, N.Y.

Bobby Bowden's greatest gift was making everybody feel as if they were Hall of Famers, too. The patriarch of Florida State football and the coach who built a dynasty from scratch died at 91 on Sunday at his home in Tallahassee.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney called Bobby Bowden a “model” that other college coaches should follow. “He was such a great example of not losing sight of the main thing: a man of faith, a great husband, a great father,” Swinney said in a statement posted on Clemson's football Twitter account.
