There’s always a different energy in the locker room when Columbia faces Riverside. The Tigers simply get up for the Generals more than anyone else.  Why exactly? Head coach Demetric Jackson can’t exactly put his finger on it. He wishes he could bottle it up every week.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: FSU, Miami renew rivalry with tangible goals looming

TALLAHASSEE — Miami and Florida State are unranked teams and the rivalry doesn’t have the fanfare it had when the programs combined to win seven national titles between 1983-2001. But the Hurricanes (5-4, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) and Seminoles (3-6, 2-4) are still playing for tangible goals.

TALLAHASSEE — Coach Leonard Hamilton said in the days leading up to Florida State’s opener that Malik Osborne would likely be limited because of flu-like symptoms that had forced him to miss the team’s second exhibition game. Osborne instead looked energetic from the start.
