BOSTON — There’s no excuse anymore for being surprised by Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec. The Notre Dame transfer made a last-minute return from a wrist injury to help the Eagles beat Virginia Tech on Nov. 5.

TALLAHASSEE — Caleb Mills had 13 points and Cam'Ron Fletcher scored 11 off the bench and Florida State beat Tulane 59-54 on Wednesday night.

BOYS GOLF: Columbia places ninth at Class 3A State Tournament

Columbia finished ninth at the Class 3A State Tournament on Wednesday at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills. After tallying a 317 after the first round on Tuesday, the Tigers put up a 316 in the final round Wednesday for a 633 total, 27 strokes off of champion Ponte Vedra.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Columbia tops P.K. Yonge in opener called early due to injury

The season opener was cut short, but Columbia still walked away with a win over P.K. Yonge. The Tigers led 41-23 victory when the game was called with 51 seconds left in the third quarter following a scary injury to Blue Wave guard Illayzia Wilcox.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: CFP top 4 unchanged with Georgia, Alabama, Oregon and Ohio State

Georgia, Alabama, Oregon and Ohio State held their places in the College Football Playoff ranking Tuesday, with Cincinnati still sitting at fifth. There was no movement in the selection committee’s top seven after all those teams won last week. Michigan was still No.

PREP ROUNDUP: Suwannee girls roll past Wakulla in hoops opener

Suwannee's girls basketball team topped Wakulla 51-15 on the road Monday night in the teams' season opener. V’kaylynn Ward scored a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs (1-0), while Janiah Mitchell and Amyah Jones each added nine points to take down the War Eagles (0-1).
