GIRLS SOCCER: CHS coach Chip recovering from hospitalization with supportive squad

There are no cheerleaders on the sidelines during Columbia soccer matches. Or at least it would seem that way. For the last six years, the Tigers’ head coach Chip Garner has been the only cheer section his team has seemingly needed.

NFL: Jaguars QB Lawrence plans to play despite sprained big toe

JACKSONVILLE — Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence felt a sense of relief Wednesday that he was merely missing the first practice of his NFL career. Lawrence said he “kind of dodged a bullet for sure on that hit,” which left him with a painful big toe.

GIRLS SOCCER: Columbia mercy-rules Hamilton County five minutes into second half

If you ask Chip Garner about his Tigers, he’ll say they haven’t missed the mark much this year. Even with a .500 record entering Tuesday, Columbia has performed up to his expectations. After a dominating 8-0 mercy rule win over Hamilton County Tuesday night, his prejudice is spot-on.
