BOYS BASKETBALL: Columbia loses another close game, this time to Buchholz

GAINESVILLE — Another game down to the wire, another close loss for Columbia. Buchholz jumped out to a 10-0 lead, built a 14-point advantage in the first half, gave the lead away in the fourth quarter and then took it back before hanging on for a 60-55 win over the Tigers at home Tuesday night.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Columbia snuffs out Fort White comeback

If the first two minutes were any indication, Tuesday’s matchup between Columbia and Fort White would more resemble a rugby scrum than a basketball game. The Tigers forced three turnovers in that span, the result of traps and a well-executed full-court press.

SOUTH BEND, Ind.— Matthew Cleveland had 14 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for his eighth straight double-double and Florida State led all the way in an 84-71 victory over Notre Dame on Tuesday night. Darin Green Jr. led Florida State (6-13, 4-4 ACC) with 20 points, 15 in the first half.

ANALYSIS: Slow starts, double-digit deficits no problem for these Jags

JACKSONVILLE — Trailing early? Yawn. Double-digit deficit late? Shrug. No hole seems too big for the Jacksonville Jaguars these days. The Comeback Cats clawed back from 27 points down to stun the Los Angeles Chargers 31-30 in the opening round of the AFC playoffs.
