BASEBALL

— Valdosta 03, Columbia 0: The Tigers (7-2) had their seven-game winning streak snapped on the road Thursday night, getting shutout by the Wildcats (8-5). It wasn’t due to the pitching performance of Trayce McKenzie-Starling, who threw all six innings for CHS and only allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

— Keystone Heights 10, Fort White 0: The Indians (2-3) were held to just two hits and were run-ruled by KHHS (5-2) in five innings on the road Thursday night. Hayden Adams suffered the loss for FWHS, allowing seven runs — two earned — on five hits and two walks with a pair of strikeouts.

— Branford 7, Bell 2: Austin Humphries pitched six innings, only allowing two unearned runs on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts to lead the Buccaneers (2-3) past the Bulldogs (0-6) at home Thursday night. Tucker Floyd went 1 for 2 with three RBIs, while Caden Coker, Haiden Ward, Camden Gaskins and Troy Roberts all had one RBI.

Lafayette 17, Taylor County 5: The Hornets (5-1) capped off another win with a four-run seventh inning as they beat the Bulldogs (4-4) on the road Thursday night.

SOFTBALL

— Fort White 10, Chiefland 8: Kadence Compton went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and picked the win in the circle to lead the Indians (5-2) past CHS (2-3-1) at home Thursday night. She threw all seven innings, striking out 10 batters while allowing five runs — three earned — on 10 hits. Hannah LeBleu briefly replaced Compton, but LeBleu was pulled after giving up three earned runs on a hit and two walks without recording an out as CHS tried to rally late with a four-run sixth inning. N’Coreyia Atkins and LeBleu also had RBIs for FWHS.

— Branford 6, Hamilton County 4: Madyson Sikes went 3 for 4 with three doubles and two RBIs to lead the Buccaneers (6-1) to a home win over the Trojans (3-3) on Thursday night. Jesse Frierson also had a double and two RBIs on a 2-for-4 night, while Alex Whitfield added an RBI. Laila Arnold went 6 1/3 innings in the circle, striking out 16 and allowing one run — zero earned — on one hit and one walk.

FLAG FOOTBALL

— Bradford 13, Suwannee 12: The Bulldogs (3-2) were edged by the Tornadoes (6-0) at home Thursday night in District 2-1A action.

BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING

— Columbia 45, Coffee (Ga.) 42, Buchholz 22 (traditional); Coffee (Ga.) 69, Buchholz 10, Columbia 10 (Olympic): The Tigers split a tri-meet against the Trojans and Bobcats on Thursday. Winners in the traditional for Columbia included Landon Oglesby (175-155-330 total in 129 class), Tyson Yaxley (255-240-495 in 183), Zaher Darwiche (300-315-615 in 219) and Auvontae Smith (265-285-550 in 238). Darwiche also placed first in the Olympic with a 185-315-500 total.
