Former Vice President Mike Pence has been subpoenaed by the special counsel overseeing investigations into efforts by former President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the results of the 2020 election, according to a person with direct knowledge of the event.

Biden vows no cuts to Social Security during Florida visit

TAMPA — With an eye toward the 2024 campaign, President Joe Biden took direct aim at Republicans who have floated cuts to Social Security and Medicare — telling an audience in Florida on Thursday that he would create a “nightmare” for anyone who dreamed of trying them.

HCHS hit by shooting hoax

JASPER — Hamilton County High School was locked down for several hours Wednesday after an active shooter was reported on campus. Hamilton County Sheriff Harrell Reid said after school resource officers put the school on lockdown and other units responded, the entire campus was cleared.

Tyndal named Hamilton Co. judge

JASPER — Hamilton County has its new judge: a Lake City attorney. Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Jamie Tyndal to the position on Tuesday. Tyndal fills the vacancy created by Judge Sonny Scaff’s retirement in November. Tyndal is the owner of the Law Office of Jamie L. Tyndal, P.A.

Biden promises to ‘finish the job’

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden exhorted Republicans over and over Tuesday night to work with him to “finish the job” of rebuilding the economy and uniting the nation as he delivered a State of the Union address meant to reassure to a country beset by pessimism and fraught political divisions.
