DES MOINES, Iowa — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump are each headed to Iowa in the coming weeks, making their first trips of the year to the leadoff Republican voting state as the 2024 campaign ramps up.

WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump can be sued by injured Capitol Police officers and Democratic lawmakers over the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, the Justice Department said Thursday in a federal court case testing Trump’s legal vulnerability for his speech before the riot.

Live Oak son pleads guilty for firearm silencers

JACKSONVILLE — One of the two Live Oak men charged with making and selling unregistered firearm silencers admitted his guilt Monday. Greg Eward, who was arrested last May by FBI agents along with his father, Dustin, pleaded guilty Monday in U.S.

LAKE BUTLER — Saturday night was a sweet treat for a pair of Columbia County girls. Fort White’s Baylee Caines and Lake City’s Ellie Bay were two of the three contestants crowned Saturday night at the Miss North Florida Strawberry Pageant at the Union County High School Auditorium.

TALLAHASSEE —About a year after the Walt Disney Co. angered him by opposing a controversial education law, Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed a bill that shifts control of the Reedy Creek Improvement District from Disney to the governor’s office.
