LIVE OAK — A Live Oak chef is hoping her biscuit recipe leads to some serious dough. Rebecca Thomas, a chef at Live Oak’s Dixie Grill restaurant, is one of four finalists competing for a $20,000 grand prize in the General Mills Foodservice’s second Biskies Recipe Contest.

DeSantis signs legislation limiting police boards

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday signed measures that will prevent investigations of local law-enforcement officers by civilian review boards and prohibit “harassment” of first responders who are on duty.

Mayo teen killed in Sunday morning crash

MAYO — A Mayo teen was killed Sunday morning when his car struck a tree. A release from Florida Highway Patrol states that a car was traveling north on SE County Road 416 toward U.S. Highway 27 southeast of Mayo when it ran off the west side of the road. The car then struck a tree around 5:35 a.m.

WHITE SPRINGS — A pair of White Springs illegal gambling houses were shut down following a state raid Wednesday.
