Rabies alert issued again in Suwannee

LIVE OAK — For the second straight week, a rabies alert has been issued for Suwannee County. The Suwannee County Health Department issued a warning Thursday for east central Suwannee County after a confirmed case of rabies was found in a raccoon killed near 89th Road on Saturday.

TALLAHASSEE — Hailed as a consummate public servant and champion of the environment, former Florida Gov. and U.S. Sen. Bob Graham lay in state Friday in the Old Capitol as about a thousand mourners paid their respects. Graham, 87, died April 16 at a retirement home in Gainesville.

Wildflower Festival set to bloom in Live Oak

LIVE OAK — The inaugural Wildflower Festival is set to bloom this weekend in Live Oak. The third festival organized by the Suwannee Festivals group is planned for Heritage Park and Gardens, 1004 Helvenston Street in Live Oak, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
