Branford man dies in two-vehicle wreck in O’Brien

O’BRIEN — A Branford man was killed when a pickup rammed into the driver’s side of his pickup Thursday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol release, a white Ford F-250 was traveling west on 216th Street around 3 p.m. Thursday when it reached the County Road 49 intersection in southeast Suwannee County.

The FHP release said the driver of the F-250, a 57-year-old Palm Coast woman, didn’t “sufficiently” check for traffic before pulling out onto CR49.

When the F-250 pulled out, it hit the driver’s side of a Nissan pickup that was headed south on CR 49.

According to FHP, both drivers — the Palm Coast woman and a 48-year-old Branford man — were transported to a local hospital following the accident.

The Palm Coast woman had minor injuries, while the Branford man sustained fatal injuries before passing away at the hospital, the release states.

According to FHP, it is not known whether the Branford man was wearing a seatbelt.
