FPL seeks OK on solar projects

Florida Power & Light on Wednesday filed a proposal at the state Public Service Commission that seeks a go-ahead for 12 new solar-energy facilities. The projects were contemplated in a 2021 settlement that set base electric rates for FPL.

LCSO dispatcher dies after cancer battle

MAYO — The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is in mourning after a dispatcher’s battle with cancer ended. Austin Petty, an LCSO communications dispatcher, passed away Monday morning. He was 22 years old.

Woman killed in single-vehicle wreck

HILDRETH — A woman was killed in an early morning crash Thursday when her pickup overturned and caught fire in southeastern Suwannee County. The woman, who died in the crash, has not been identified, according to Florida Highway Patrol, and next of kin notification is pending positive ID.

Davis wants more information after traffic workshop

LIVE OAK — A workshop cleared up some traffic concerns but Live Oak Mayor Frank Davis still wants more information about a property seeking annexation into the city. The annexation of approximately 140 acres just south of the city limits has been approved by the Live Oak City Council.
