County to help city with senior home repairs

The City of Lake City is asking Columbia County for assistance in helping out senior citizens with home repairs.

The Grinch struck the local Toys for Tots program early this year. A catastrophic flooding incident at the Toys for Tots office damaged and destroyed more than $13,000 worth of toys, meaning the agency has to start over.

Bomb hoax hits CHS again

For the second time in 35 days, Columbia High School was evacuated due to a bomb threat. But Monday, much like March 15, the threat was determined to be a hoax after law enforcement searched the school building and campus.

Roundabout project leading to detours

Ongoing work on Columbia County’s first roundabout means additional detours. The Florida Department of Transportation has scheduled overnight closures of Bascom Norris Drive and U.S. Highway 41 this next week, depending on the weather. The closures are slated for 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
