Mock crash alerts FWHS students to dangers of impaired driving

FORT WHITE — Just days before celebrating prom, Fort White High School students were delivered a somber message. First responders held a mock crash at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday, alerting students to the potential consequences of distracted, impaired or drunk driving.

Let the good times roll: CCSO hosting Fins and Pins fundraiser Saturday

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is ready to let the good times roll once again. After having to curb some of the activities the past two years due to covid-19, the CCSO’s annual fundraiser for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches , Fins and Pins, returns Saturday.

Egg-citing hunt comes to CHS

The Easter Bunny arrived slightly early for a group of Columbia County children. Columbia High School FFA chapters hosted their second Easter egg hunt on Friday, April 15, at the CHS campus. Kids participated in egg hunts, had their pictures taken in a photo booth and feasted on free snacks.

Blaze being investigated

A Tuesday morning fire that gutted a single family home just outside of city limits is under investigation. The fire at 301 SE Montrose Avenue occurred around 9:30 a.m. Firefighters and multiple units from both the Lake City Fire Department and Columbia County Fire Rescue responded to the blaze.
