GAINESVILLE — Florida coach Dan Mullen showed up after his team's testy victory against Missouri dressed as Darth Vader. Mullen insisted it was the only Halloween costume in the facility, not a conscious decision to play a villain.

Columbia has tried just about everything at quarterback this season. Head coach Brian Allen has turned to five different guys and none have delivered a win this season. QB No. 5 was Bronsen Tillotson on Friday night but he was in a 12-point hole against North Miami Beach in the fourth quarter.

FORT WHITE — In their final game of the regular season, the Fort White Indians had one of their best performances of 2020.   It still wasn’t enough. Newberry broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to come away with a 39-19 win at FWHS.

BRANFORD — Clinging to a three-point lead, the Branford Buccaneers needed one more defensive stop. Down 12-9, Trenton passed up a potential game-tying field goal from inside the Bucs’ 10-yard line late Friday night at Cleve Sikes Field at Buccaneer Stadium.

NFL: Minshew has thumb injury that could force QB swap

JACKSONVILLE — A person familiar with the situation says Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew has a strained ligament and multiple fractures in his right thumb, an injury that could prompt coach Doug Marrone to turn to rookie Jake Luton after the team's bye week.
