Suwannee freshman receiver and outfielder Camdon Frier received an offer from Florida State on Wednesday night to play both football and baseball. Frier is the son of former Seminole Matt Frier, who played from 1989 to 1993.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Florida can clinch SEC East title at Tennessee

In his third season at Florida coach Dan Mullen has the Gators a win away from the Southeastern Conference championship game for the first time since 2016.  Sixth-ranked Florida can clinch the East by beating Tennessee on Saturday, something they've done 14 of the last 15 games in this series.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Florida State routs UNF in opener

TALLAHASSEE — Florida State showed its depth as the defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Seminoles opened their season with a resounding victory. M.J. Walker scored 17 points and Balsa Koprivica added 13 as No. 22 Florida State beat North Florida 86-58 on Wednesday night.

Columbia squeaked by Buchholz 42-40 in its season opener at home Wednesday night. The Tigers won six weight classes via pin: Brett Millard (106), Christopher Hayes (138), Thomas Greene (152), Joseph Rice (170), Shawn Raggins (195) and Travis Matthews (285).

GIRLS SOCCER: Columbia shuts out Fort White for fifth straight time in series

The rivalry between Columbia and Fort White ended as it typically does Wednesday night — with a shutout. The Lady Tigers blanked the Lady Indians 4-0 at the CYSA Fields for their fifth straight shutout victory in the series.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. — Tre Mann scored a career-high 19 points, including five free throws in the final minute, and added six rebounds, four assists and five steals, to help Florida open its season with a 76-69 victory over Army on Wednesday.

NFL: Jaguars sticking with Glennon even though Minshew is healthy
