PREP BASEBALL: Stevens throws one-hitter for Baker County, hands Columbia first loss

A double by Matthew Dumas was all Columbia could muster Friday night. Baker County pitcher Easton Stevens was in the zone. Stevens threw a complete game, one-hitter and struck out 13 to lead the Wildcats past the Tigers 3-0 in Lake City.

CORAL GABLES — Florida State continues to build its case for a high NCAA Tournament seed. Sardaar Calhoun scored a career-high 16 points and the No. 11 Seminoles coasted to an 88-71 win over Miami on Wednesday night.

After five days in the hospital battling covid-19, Columbia football coach Brian Allen is home and recovering. Allen told the Lake City Reporter on Wednesday that he’s feeling better after he went into the hospital due to shortness of breath, one of just a few symptoms he experienced.

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County sheriff on Wednesday characterized the crash that seriously injured Tigers Woods as “purely an accident" and appeared to rule out any potential criminal charges even as authorities were still investigating.
