NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Tolu Smith scored a career-high 28 points, including a go-ahead basket in overtime with 4.3 seconds left, and Mississippi State beat Florida 69-68 on Thursday in the second round of the SEC tournament.

FORT WHITE — For the third time in as many years, Fort White will be looking for a new head football coach. Lee Dorsett officially submitted his resignation as the Indians’ coach Wednesday afternoon in a move that the administration said left them blindsided.

JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Jaguars cut high-priced cornerback Shaquill Griffin on Wednesday, a move that was months in the making and will save the team $13.1 million against the salary cap. Griffin tweaked his back early last season and was essentially benched before going on injured reserve.

It’s taken just two games in its first full season for Columbia to put the rest of District 2-1A on notice. The Tigers rolled to their second straight win to open the year Tuesday night with a 20-13 victory over Madison County at Tiger Stadium.
