Suwannee, Branford and Fort White competed at the Santa Fe mini meet on Wednesday. The Bulldogs had three winners, including Kay’lyona Cuffy in the girl shot put (35’3 feet), Ryleigh Hermanson in the girls 1600m (5:51) and Morgan Mobley in the boys 800m (2:06).

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: FGC aims to win another Region 8 championship

A Region 8 championship is once again just a win away for Florida Gateway College. The Timberwolves (13-11) will play for the conference title this Saturday at the Howard Center after locking up the No. 1 seed this past weekend with a 92-79 win over Palm Beach State (14-10).

PREP SOFTBALL: Columbia stays hot, tops Lafayette to remain undefeated

It took Columbia 17 games last season to win its fourth game. This year? Just four. The new and improved Tigers kept rolling on Tuesday, this time behind pitcher McKenna O’Sullivan’s arm and bat.

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Richard leads Florida beats Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. — Will Richard hit five 3-pointers and finished with 24 points, Myreon Jones had a double-double and Florida beat Georgia 77-67 on Tuesday night to snap a three-game losing streak. Florida secured a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament, which begins March 8 in Nashville, Tennessee.

PREP FOOTBALL: Woodley returning as Columbia DC, Allen finalizing staff

Brian Allen is getting the gang back together again. Columbia’s new head coach is bringing back a chunk of his staff that was around during his first stint from 2011-2020. That includes defensive coordinator John Woodley, who resigned from the role on Jan.

PREP WRESTLING: Suwannee wins first regional title since 2005, sends 8 to state

WEWAHITCHKA — The Suwannee Bulldogs were waiting nearly 20 years for Saturday. Behind nine state qualifiers and two Region 1-1A IBT champions, the SHS wrestling team captured its first region championship since 2005. The Bulldogs totaled 203.5 points to win the region crown.
