GAINESVILLE — For the second straight night, Columbia’s bats got hot at just the right time. It took the Tigers until the fourth inning to find their offense, but once they did, it was game over.

FORT WHITE — The flag beyond the fence of John Wilson Field was practically ironed out facing away from the ballpark Friday night. But on a few key plays, maybe it fluttered just a bit too much for Madison County’s liking.

Suwannee, Branford and Fort White competed at the Santa Fe mini meet on Wednesday. The Bulldogs had three winners, including Kay’lyona Cuffy in the girl shot put (35’3 feet), Ryleigh Hermanson in the girls 1600m (5:51) and Morgan Mobley in the boys 800m (2:06).

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: FGC aims to win another Region 8 championship

A Region 8 championship is once again just a win away for Florida Gateway College. The Timberwolves (13-11) will play for the conference title this Saturday at the Howard Center after locking up the No. 1 seed this past weekend with a 92-79 win over Palm Beach State (14-10).

PREP SOFTBALL: Columbia stays hot, tops Lafayette to remain undefeated

It took Columbia 17 games last season to win its fourth game. This year? Just four. The new and improved Tigers kept rolling on Tuesday, this time behind pitcher McKenna O’Sullivan’s arm and bat.
