NFL: Jags cut CB Griffin to save $13.1M against salary cap

JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Jaguars cut high-priced cornerback Shaquill Griffin on Wednesday, a move that was months in the making and will save the team $13.1 million against the salary cap. Griffin tweaked his back early last season and was essentially benched before going on injured reserve.

PREP FLAG FOOTBALL: Baker leads Columbia past Madison County for another district win

It’s taken just two games in its first full season for Columbia to put the rest of District 2-1A on notice. The Tigers rolled to their second straight win to open the year Tuesday night with a 20-13 victory over Madison County at Tiger Stadium.

NFL: Jaguars place franchise tag on TE Engram after career year

JACKSONVILLE — Evan Engram will be back in Jacksonville for another season, probably longer if the Jaguars get their way. The Jaguars placed the franchise tag on the veteran tight end Monday, guaranteeing him a one-year, $11.345 million contract in 2023.
