Skyler Ziegaus merely scratched the surface of what she was capable of her first two years at Columbia. But as a freshman in a covid-ridden season, her coaches and teammates knew there was something special about her even before she was named the Lake City Reporter’s Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Ayden Phillips was just trying to put the ball in play. With the bases loaded and Grant Bowers eagerly waiting on third base with one out, Phillips just got a piece of Buchholz pitcher Aidan Kastensmidt’s slider as it crossed home plate.

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: FGC guard Webber named NJCAA first team All-American

Florida Gateway College point guard Antewan Webber was named to the NJCAA Division II All-American first team on Tuesday. Webber was the sole freshman selected to the first team and is FGC’s first basketball All-American since the re-establishment of athletics in 2017.

BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING: Suwannee sweeps District 5-1A titles

LIVE OAK — The Suwannee boys weightlifting team wasn’t perfect at the District 5-1A meet Friday at the SHS gym.
