FORT WHITE — The coaching carousel in Columbia County continues spinning back in time. Just three weeks after Brian Allen returned to Columbia High, Demetric Jackson is back in charge at Fort White.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Georgia Tech to face Florida State in 2024 opener in Dublin

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech and Florida State will open the 2024 season in Dublin, Ireland. The Aer Lingus College Football Classic matchup announced Wednesday will mark the second time that two Atlantic Coast Conference teams have opened the season in Ireland.

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: FGC gets 16-seed again, will face undefeated Davidson-Davie in NJCAA tournament

Florida Gateway College is a big underdog again. The Timberwolves, who won the South Atlantic District B championship on Saturday, were awarded the No. 16 seed in the NJCAA D-II tournament on Wednesday. They’ll face top-seeded Davidson-Davie (32-0) in the opening round next Tuesday at 2 p.m.

NFL: Jaguars bringing back special teams ace Wingard

JACKSONVILLE — A person familiar with negotiations says backup safety Andrew Wingard has agreed to return to Jacksonville on a three-year, $9.6 million contract. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the move can’t become official until Wednesday.

GLEN ST. MARY — Columbia got its biggest test of the season so far rained out on Friday. The Tigers were supposed to host defending state champion Middleburg for a prime showdown to see how far they’d really come along in a season’s time.

PREP TRACK & FIELD: Columbia, Suwannee perform well at Raider Invitational

Columbia and Suwannee were both in action at Santa Fe’s Raider Invitational on Saturday. Seth Stockton led the CHS boys, not only winning the long jump (6.50m) but also the triple jump (14.78m). He also competed in the javelin for the first time and placed sixth with a throw of 36.
