BRANFORD — In a potential preview of District 6-1A postseason action, the pitchers took center stage. So naturally, it was a manufactured run and an outfield error that decided Thursday’s contest between Fort White and Branford.

On a cold, windy night Columbia’s bats were, well, a little cold. Luckily for the lineup, pitcher Zoryana Hughes brought the heat to shut down Gainesville to end a long losing streak to its bitter rival.

PREP SPORTS: FHSAA releases first set of spring rankings

With the second half of the spring season underway, the FHSAA released its first set of rankings for baseball, softball and flag football on Tuesday. Here’s a look at where the teams in Columbia, Suwannee and Lafayette counties stand.
