PREP FOOTBALL: Fort White hopes to continue progress against Hamilton County

FORT WHITE — The Indians haven’t exactly been tested early. Outside a bit of a scare against Taylor County in the team’s 19-13 season-opening win, Fort White has induced a running clock in its last two contests.

PREP FOOTBALL: Winless Columbia aims to get off schneid at Madison County

There are no pushovers on Columbia’s non-district schedule. Some, though, are tougher and deeper than others. Two losses to Buchholz and DeLand, a pair of large Class 4S schools, to start the season were two of the most talented teams Columbia will face all season.

PREP FOOTBALL: Suwannee aims to crush Munroe's confidence early

LIVE OAK — Don’t get fooled by Robert F. Munroe’s winless record. The Bobcats are better than that 0-2 mark, and their talent level and athleticism has Suwannee coach Kyler Hall worried heading into Friday’s 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Langford Stadium.

MAYO — The defense has been solid through two games for Lafayette, even scoring what turned out to be the winning touchdown in the season opener, a 7-6 victory at Dixie County two weeks ago.

PREP FOOTBALL: Branford begins tough 4-game stretch against Hilliard

Columbia’s boys swim team edged Yulee 16-15 on Tuesday evening, while the girls fell to Yulee 132-110. Arthur Vanderpool led the CHS boys with victories in the 50 freestyle (31.81) and 100 freestyle (1:17.81). Victories for the CHS girls included Izzy Scott in the 50 freestyle (31.

PREP FOOTBALL: Allen preaches patience, believes Columbia is close to wins

Resiliency is the word Columbia head coach Brian Allen used again and again to describe his team, even in a 35-21 loss to DeLand on Friday. And despite an 0-2 start to the season, he believes his team is close to winning football games.

PREP VOLLEYBALL: Fernandez racks up 49 assists to lead Columbia past Lafayette

On the last serve of Tuesday night’s game between Columbia and Lafayette, Tigers head coach Trudy Andrews hoped her setter would get the ball. When she didn’t, Andrews hoped her own team’s shot would land out of bounds. It didn’t, prompting a celebration tinged with a bit of regret.

Suwannee’s boys golf team finished 12th while Columbia placed 17 at the Randy Warren Invitational hosted by Fleming Island on Monday. William Slaughter led the Bulldogs with a 73 and Ty Hurst was one stroke back with a 74.

PREP FOOTBALL: Fort White blows out Jefferson County in Monday night matchup

MONTICELLO — There were two instances where the Fort White offense failed to score Monday night. The first came in the middle of the second quarter when a Jayden Jackson scramble came up a few yards short on fourth down.
