BOYS GOLF — Suwannee 164, Columbia 176: Dawson Wooley shot a 38 and Ty Hurst added a 41 to lead the Bulldogs over the Tigers on Monday at the Country Club of Lake City. William Slaughter added a 42 and Clayton Senea rounded out scoring for SHS with a 43.

PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Mobley, Hermanson impress for Suwannee at FSU Invitational

Suwannee’s cross country teams got a taste of their district course as well as the state course on Saturday, competing in the FSU Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee where the boys placed 21st out of 39 teams and the girls finished 24th out of 32 teams.

PREP FOOTBALL: Collins throws 5 TDs in first start as Columbia shuts out Orange Park for first win

During Friday’s pep rally for homecoming, Columbia freshman quarterback Xavier Collins rolled out of the locker room recording himself as head coach Brian Allen did his call outs. There was a certain swagger to the freshman ahead of his first career start that was only a few hours away.

PREP FOOTBALL: Lafayette beats Branford for 15th straight win in rivalry

BRANFORD — By halftime, there was no doubt that Lafayette would take the series against Branford for the 15th time in a row. The Hornets built a 28-point halftime lead, thanks to their defense and a breakout game out of workhorse Jamarien Ervin.

PREP FOOTBALL: Suwannee looks to open district play with win at Taylor County

LIVE OAK — Suwannee is undefeated and ranked second in Region 1-2S in the FHSAA’s initial playoff rankings released Tuesday. Still, when the Bulldogs travel to Taylor County on Friday night, none of those wins or rankings matter.

PREP FOOTBALL: Branford, Lafayette not focused on ‘Helmet’ streak

BRANFORD — In a way, the streak is a bit of a cloud hanging over the heads of both the Lafayette and Branford coaches. Lafayette currently has the upper hand in the series, having won the last 13 games between the schools in neighboring counties.
