BRANFORD — Being on a two-game skid after a 3-0 start, Branford coach Tim Clark admits it may generate a healthy chip on the shoulders of his players heading into the final stage of a rugged four-game stretch. “Absolutely, I want them to have that sense of urgency,” Clark said.

BOYS GOLF — Suwannee 164, Columbia 176: Dawson Wooley shot a 38 and Ty Hurst added a 41 to lead the Bulldogs over the Tigers on Monday at the Country Club of Lake City. William Slaughter added a 42 and Clayton Senea rounded out scoring for SHS with a 43.

Suwannee’s cross country teams got a taste of their district course as well as the state course on Saturday, competing in the FSU Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee where the boys placed 21st out of 39 teams and the girls finished 24th out of 32 teams.

During Friday’s pep rally for homecoming, Columbia freshman quarterback Xavier Collins rolled out of the locker room recording himself as head coach Brian Allen did his call outs. There was a certain swagger to the freshman ahead of his first career start that was only a few hours away.
