LIVE OAK — The tuneups for Suwannee are over. The real season for the Bulldogs begins now as they travel Friday to Madison County for a pivotal three-game stretch to close the regular season. It’s something Suwannee, which enters Friday’s 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Boot Hill, has known for a while.

PREP FOOTBALL: Lafayette to host Taylor County in hurricane makeup next Tuesday

MAYO — After getting knocked off its No. 1 regional ranking in a sobering loss to Fort White last Friday, Lafayette is looking to get back on track in a rare Tuesday night football matchup. The Hornets’ rescheduled game against Taylor County is one of the aftermaths from Hurricane Idalia.

A grueling schedule to start the season is finally paying off for Columbia. Now the Tigers appear to be peaking at just the right time. Columbia’s 35-31 come-from-behind win over Bolles was a massive one.

It’s not too often a loss can count as a playoff tuneup, but it may be the case for Columbia on Tuesday evening. The Tigers not only went toe-to-toe with visiting Oak Hall, ranked No. 6 in Class 2A ranking and No. 1 in its region, but had a stranglehold on the visitors.

Suwannee sophomore Ryan Donaldson survived a playoff to earn victory at the Florida Junior Tour Championship on Sunday at Lakewood National Golf Club in the girls 13-15 age division. Donald posted a 7-over 223 to win the tournament for her fourth FJT title this year.
