LIVE OAK — Led by a pair of individual titles, Suwannee's girls weightlifting earned a runner-up finish at its stacked Power of Christmas invitational Saturday.

Class 3A power Navarre swept the Olympic and traditional team titles at the 25-team meet with the host Bulldogs coming in second in traditional with 28 points, edging Winter Springs (27) and Leesburg (25). Navarre had 46 points to win traditional and 35 to win Olympic, topping Leesburg’s 33. Suwannee was fifth in Olympic with 24 points, also behind Wewahitchka’s 26 and Winter Springs’ 25.

In traditional, Suwannee got individual titles from Caroline Allen at 101 pounds (260 total) and Brianna McCullers at 169 (355 total). Also scoring points for the Bulldogs were Jordyn Rodriguez, who was second at 119 (315 total); Kaly Cuffy, third at 199 (355 total); Savannah White, third at unlimited (375 total); and Kate Lansford, sixth at 139 (300 total).

Other top 10 lifters for Suwannee in traditional were Hylan Hurst, seventh at 110; Johanna Alicea, ninth at 129; Andelynn Lundy, seventh at 154; and Melanie Jones, eighth at unlimited.

In Olympic, the Bulldogs received points from Allen (third, 235 total), Rodrigez (second, 290 total), Lansford (sixth, 280 total), McCullers (second, 320 total), Cuffy (third, 350 total), and White (second, 360 total).

Also finishing in the top 10 for Suwannee in Olympic were Hurst, seventh; Alicea, seventh; Lundy, ninth; and Jordan Williams, eighth at unlimited.

Branford had two girls place in the top 10 with Ainsley Kirby finishing eighth at 183 pounds in traditional and Haylee Adair placing 10th at unlimited in Olympic.

Leesburg’s E’Mia Jones had the top lift in the Olympic event, totaling 400 pounds to with the 199 weight class, while Leesburg’s Nevaeh Wells had the top lift in traditional, winning the unlimited class with a total of 470 pounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

— Fort White 63, Union County 33: Tafari Moe scored 17 points with two 3-pointers and Jayden Jackson added 16 with two more 3s to lead the Indians (6-1) to a blowout win over the Tigers (3-3) at home Saturday night in District 6-1A action. Brandon DeMartino knocked down three shots from beyond the arc and finished with 14 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

— Fort White 51, Union County 12: Isreal Hart scored 31 points to lead the Indians (3-4) to a blowout win over the Tigers (0-5) at home Saturday night in District 6-1A action.
