BOYS BASKETBALL: Haywood helps Columbia escape Suwannee with fourth straight win

LIVE OAK — With Suwannee on the verge of an upset, Marlin Haywood saved Columbia with his defense and a little help. Haywood scored seven straight points to give the Tigers an 8-point lead with under two minutes to go and they held on for a 60-52 road win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday night.

GIRLS SOCCER: Columbia suffers mercy-rule loss to Clay in District 2-5A semis

GREEN COVE SPRINGS — Columbia marched into Clay High School nearly a year ago to the day and pulled off an upset over the then-No. 2 seeded Blue Devils, besting the home team 3-2 on the strength of a pair of early goals, one of which came off a Mia Brasel header in the ninth minute.
